Trauma Processing

| 50 Minutes |

Your story is yours, it is sacred. When we bring ourselves into a space where we intentionally divulge painful or traumatic experiences, we become intensely vulnerable. We are actively choosing to share parts of our story that have left us feeling broken, damaged, and sometimes paralyzed. I choose to fully acknowledge and honor that you have invited me into that space with you. There are traumas that society has deemed “big” and typically identify these specific events as trauma, and there are other traumas that sometimes go unnoticed but leave a big impact over time. It is not uncommon for people to sit with me and learn that what they have been through is actually identifiable as trauma; something that society has not deemed a “large” or “outstanding” event but severely impactful on the nervous system nonetheless.

Many individuals that have experienced various forms of trauma have learned to armor up. The protective layer serves the purpose of operating in a way that presents fully functioning while actively living in survival mode. Navigating the exploration of trauma requires a delicate approach that is also intentional, this takes time. Sure you’ve found ways to keep going, maintain productivity, and even be successful in life, but there’s also a deep pain that is waiting to be acknowledged. Sometimes, the hesitation around starting therapy comes from the idea that “if I open this up, if I talk about it, it’s going to jeopardize everything I’ve built.” This fear is natural, but I’m also here to remind you that you deserve healing, you are worthy of living a life that doesn’t require you to live in constant survival mode, it’s not sustainable.
